Truth be told, smartphones have been of great importance to us, but like everything that has an advantage there could also be a disadvantage.

If not used properly, your mobile phones could really cause unhealthy situations.

These are some of the ways mobile phones can harm your health.

1. GERMS

Your phone could pick up dust, germs and other bacteria that are harmful to your health. Your hands also come in contact with lots of bacteria in the course of a day, and your hands and phone go hand in hand; this is another reason to wash your hands regularly.

According to a research conducted by researchers from University of Oregon, of the 7000 types of bacteria found on the fingers of study participants, 82% were also present on their mobile phones.

2. WHILE DRIVING

Use of mobile phones have increased the rate of road accidents. Your concentration levels drop when driving and using your phone at the same time.

3. POOR SLEEP QUALITY AND INSOMNIA

Your mobile phones emit blue light that can hinder you from having quality sleep at night or even insomnia. This is why sleep experts advise that you stay away from your phones before bedtime.

The blue light that your phone emits inhibits the release of the sleep hormone, melatonin.

4. FERTILITY

Your phones emit radiation and health experts believe that even though these radiations don’t pose a problem ordinarily, they can cause problems when in close contact with the penile region. These radiations can trigger as much as a 9% drop in live sperm per fluid sample.

5. PEDESTRIANS

Pedestrians aren’t also left out. Texting or chatting while walking on the road can lead to certain risks ranging from little accidents to major ones. Walking while texting leaves you oblivious of the road accidents that could happen at any point in time, and it puts you at risk.

While your mobile phones might be a gadget you just can’t do without, they also pose certain health dangers if care isn’t taken.
