4 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT ALLOW YOUR KIDS USE A MOBILE PHONE

Technology is growing, and that growth means that things will continue to change in the world.

More and more people are getting exposed to technology, even kids. This of course, shouldn’t be a problem, but when you consider that children are children, and are easily influenced by the things they see and hear, you might begin to see that the trend isn’t entirely a positive one.

There is so much negativity that the use of a mobile phone can cause to children. Let us explore some of them.

CYBER BULLYING

Bullying isn’t peculiar only to the real world. It doesn’t only happen at school or when your child is in company of his age mates, it happens on the Internet too; hence the term, ‘Cyber- bullying’.

It may seem harmless, but Cyber bullying is just as dangerous as physical bullying. There may not be any physical harm involved, but the psychological impact may have damaging effects on the psyche and confidence of your child.

Cyber bullying can be on any social media space, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

DISTRACTION FROM THE REAL WORLD

The Internet is great for getting information, but you gotta agree it’s a bit addictive. There are millions of adults battling mobile phone addiction, and who have lost so much because they haven’t been able to find a balance. Now, imagine a kid in that situation. They’d be distracted and carried away from facing their responsibilities in life. Things like, studying, and attending to normal house chores.

EXPOSURE TO INDECENCY

The Internet exposes your child to so much, even pornography. This can of course, corrupt their mind and lead to dangerous habits like masturbation, etc.

SLEEP DEPRIVATION

Have you seen a child playing video game before? They’re stuck there until you scream at them or there’s a power cut. A mobile phone can have the same effect on children. They can have access to video games and so much more online which can deprive them enough sleep required for their healthy growth and development.

There’s no doubting that mobile phones are important, but they’re just as dangerous if not carefully managed. If you cannot keep an eye on what your children do with their phone, you may want to stop them from using one entirely.
