WHY YOU SHOULDN’T START YOUR YEAR WITH A NEW YEAR RESOLUTION

Many people start the year with resolutions of what to do and what not to do, and as we’ve entered the new year, I’m pretty sure that billions of people around the world has also done the same thing.

But in all honesty, setting resolutions and writing them on a piece of paper or in a book might not really help you. If you doubt it, look back at all the resolutions you’ve made in previous years and check how committed to it after the first quarter of the year had gone by.

So what then should you do? Just read through below:

1. YOU DON’T NEED A NEW YEAR TO CHANGE YOU

Many people set goals to change certain bad behaviours or start certain good behaviours at the start of the year. I did a lot while growing up, and I started each year with so much zest, but got tired or even forgot my resolution after the first month. In essence, a new year is just like any other day, it didn’t come with a special flavour; so it’s not going to change you in any way.

2. BE DETERMINED EVERY SINGLE DAY

Live your life per day, and make efforts to change what you can per day. If you’re determined to make changes per day, you’ll be surprised at the progress you will make. But if you are bent on banking on the euphoria of a new year, you might end up frustrating yourself after the first few weeks.

3. TRUE CHANGE COMES FROM WITHIN

True change comes from the inside not the outside. So how can you bank on the feelings around a certain date which happens every year to change you? It’s not possible.

The mind is your engine room, and if you’re determined within yourself to do something, you’d be surprised at just how much you can go.

Have you set some resolutions for the year? It wouldn’t be bad if you break those resolutions into daily activities and blend them with your daily life and become more determined to act on it with each day.
