Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. You are at risk of contracting gonorrhea if you engage in unprotected s*x whether oral or vaginal. Gonorrhea tends to infect warm, moist areas of the human body like eyes, throat, anus, urethra, vagina and female reproductive tract.
Below are signs you might have gonorrhea (signs for men)
1. A persistent sore throat.
2. Swelling or redness at the opening of the penis.
3. Greater frequency or urgency of urination.
4. A pus-like discharge from the penis
5. Swelling or pain in the testicles.
It should be noted that many women don’t develop the signs of the infection, so this is why you need to stop having unprotected s*x and ensure you go for a test regularly.

Symptoms of gonorrhea usually occur within 2 to 14 days after exposure and abstinence, s*x with only one partner and use of condoms still remain the best forms of avoiding the infection.
