One thing I have to come to find out about this generation is the different types of non-relationships they engage in. I call them non-relationships because they are not your traditional type of relationship we all grew up to know. This generation seems to have no issues hooking up without actually having a relationship label.
Here are some non-relationships that exist today
1. ‘THE FRIENDS WHO HOOK UP SOMETIMES’ RELATIONSHIP
You have been close friends like forever and you do virtually everything together. You like your friend and you think its mutual but the both of you are afraid of dating but that still doesn’t stop you from hooking up with your close friend sometimes. Yeah you read that right. There are lots of people involved in this kind of relationship today.
2. THE DATING APP LOVER YOU NEVER SEE
This is another weird kind of relationship that exists today. You meet this person on a dating app and you guys seem to share deep connection. Despite sharing this deep connection, you guys have never seen and the chances of meeting him/her is almost zero.
3. THE ONE WHO HAS A PARTNER BUT DOESN’T CARE
He or she is in a committed relationship and every one seems to know their partner but that doesn’t stop this person from wanting to hook up with you whenever their partner is out of town. Even though he/she seems to be in a committed relationship which he/she is not ready to lose, he/she still wants to have a taste of you.
4. THE ONE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH
You both know the relationship isn’t leading nowhere but you both have grown so accustomed to each other that you can’t bring yourself to end it. Whether it’s a late night booty call or a friend you sleep with sometimes, it’s obvious you are quite comfortable with the setup.
5. THE LATE NIGHT BOOTY CALL
This isn’t someone you should be having something to do with but you just find yourself reaching out to them whenever you are drunk and in the mood.
6. THE ONE WHO HAS PARTNER
Many people seem to have gotten themselves into this at least once. You realise he or she has a partner only after you have had a good night with them. It can really be quite annoying.
7. THE ONE YOU ARE HIDING
You sleep with him or her but you can’t afford to let your friends know about this person whether because your friends don’t like him/her or he/she just looks weird. Either way, this person embarrasses you but you won’t still quit.
8. THE ONE YOU MET AND HAVEN’T SEEN EVER SINCE
You met this cool person at the bar or somewhere in town and exchanged numbers. You seem to always check on this person only whenever you are lonely but there seems to be a chance of you meeting this person again.
9. ‘WE LOVE EACH OTHER BUT NEITHER OF US WILL ADMIT IT’ RELATIONSHIP
Every one seems to think you both are perfect for each other but you both are so afraid to tell the other how you feel and neither of you know the other person is interested.
10. THE RELATIONSHIP YOU DON’T CALL A RELATIONSHIP
You guys seem to be in a relationship and every one seems to see that too but the problem here is that neither of you seem to agree you are actually dating. You both do everything anyone in a relationship would do but just seem to avoid the relationship tag.
11. THE FRIEND WITH BENEFITS WITHOUT BENEFITS
This relationship has all the benefits of a normal relationship which includes caring for each other. You are essentially each other’s significant other except for the fact that he/she isn’t the person you are making love to.
I still prefer my traditional type of relationship. What about you?
