10 THINGS THAT COULD RUIN EVEN A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP

We all want a happy and successful relationship, but the irony of life is that, we tend to put up attitudes, characters and traits that could kill the happiness in our relationships.

Happiness is never guaranteed in a relationship; it’s either worked for or it’s depleted, all depending on the actions you choose to take.

A relationship could be happy, and then turn sour when these things happen.

1. YOU NAG AND COMPLAIN A LOT

Nagging and too many complains are relationship killers. When you nag and complain a lot, you’ll end up ruining the joy of that relationship, and then you slowly plant seed of bitterness in your partner’s heart, or even your own heart.

2. TAKING EVERYTHING TOO SERIOUS

Couples who tend to take everything happening in the relationship too seriously can never have a happy relationship, compared to couples who are less serious with each other even though they take each other seriously. There’s a difference between both, and couples in the first category will definitely have a less happier relationship.

3. HOLDING GRUDGES

When you tend to hold grudges, barely forgive, keep scores and keep count of all your partner’s past mistakes, it’ll definitely affect your relationship, even if it’s a happy one.

4. COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN

One of the biggest differences between happy and unhappy couples lies in the way they communicate. Couples who have a good communication network will experience a better and happier relationship than couples who always experience a breakdown in communication.

When you talk and listen to each other, and share your experiences with each other, you bond more and understand each other better. But when you don’t, your relationship will suffer.

5. INSECURITY

Insecurity can also ruin the happiest of relationships; it could create a bad atmosphere in the relationship. Insecurity will create a problem where there shouldn’t, and could cause couples to quarrel and argue at the slightest instance.

6. LACK OF RESPECT

Respect is another key component of every happy relationship. When it exists, couples will be happier, and when it’s lacking, couples will argue more, fight more, be more selfish and care less about each other. A lack of respect will ruin the happiness that exists in your relationship; this is why when one partner starts being disrespectful in a relationship/marriage, the marriage will tend to suffer.

7. COMPARISONS

Comparing your partner to another person is a terrible thing to do; comparing your marriage/relationship with another, is even worse. When you start comparing, you tell your partner that he/she isn’t good enough, and that’ll be the beginning of the end of the happiness that should be in that relationship. No matter how happy your relationship might be, comparisons will always kill it.

8. INFIDELITY/DISHONESTY

This is definitely a no brainer; cheating on your partner and being dishonest in any way will hurt your relationship. Once any of these two steps in, trust will be lost, and true happiness can never exist where there isn’t trust.

9. INCONSISTENCY

Being inconsistent is another thing that’ll hurt the happiness in your relationship. When one partner (or both) tends to be loving today and unloving the next day, caring today and uncaring the next day, excited today and lukewarm the next day, then your relationship will suffer.

10. TAKING EACH OTHER FOR GRANTED

Taking each other for granted will also kill the sting in the relationship, and this is one thing many couples tend to do after being together for so long.

A happy relationship needs continual efforts for it to remain happy. The moment you start planting bad seeds in it, then it’ll suffer.
