Watermelons are very nutritious fruits. They’re filled with lots of nutrients and water which are good for the health.

Watermelons can be consumed in different ways, including as a part of fruit salad, smoothie or by itself. A very decent number of people eat watermelons, but the truth is they don’t even know the health benefits they enjoy along with it.

Here are some of them…

* Watermelons are rich in so many vitamins – the vitamin A found in watermelon has anti-oxidant qualities, and helps to maintain our eyesight. The vitamin C strengthens our immunity, prevents cell damage, promotes healthy teeth and gums and heals injuries.

The vitamin B6 in watermelon helps our body to convert protein to energy and also helps the brain with its functions.

* Watermelon has high amounts of lycopen, a strong and powerful anti-oxidant which helps to eradicate heart disease and prostate cancer.

* Watermelon is rich in potassium. This helps to maintain our body’s proper electrolyte and the acid-base balance. It also helps our muscles and nerves to function well, and lowers the risk of high blood pressure.

* Watermelon has a lot of arginine, citrulline and amino acids. These help to maintain our arteries, blood flow and cardiovascular function.
