Oftentimes, these days, people just waltz into phone stores and pick up whatever they see or the one recommended by the dealer. As ‘stressless’ as that sounds, it can have damaging effects in the short and long run because you’ll most likely end up with something you don’t like.

Before you get a phone, it is important that you sit down, plan it, and consider the following things…

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Before visiting a phone store to buy one, you’re going to have to answer one incredibly important question: What phone do you want? Are you an iPhone fan or do you like Android more? It’s also important to know why? Going for a phone just to ‘show off’ may not be a great idea.

SPEED MATTERS

Speed matters a lot for any phone and the processor has a key role to play. But then, do you really need all that speed? At best, if your phone activity only ranges from making calls to running a handful of apps and playing a few games, then, a budget-tier or a mid-tier phone should serve your purpose perfectly.

BATTERY CAPACITY & CHARGING

The battery life of a phone can make or break a phone. It goes without saying that you should get a phone with a great battery life, preferably one that lasts more than a day on a single charge.

RAM & STORAGE

With heavy apps all around, a phone nowadays must have a minimum of 3GB of RAM. However, if you are pressed for money, you can opt for a 2GB RAM phone. It’s not recommended to go below that option. Phones with a 6GB or 8GB RAM are even better.

THE CAMERA TECHNOLOGY

You’ll hardly find someone with mini digicams these days. The phone camera has taken over and it’s important now more than ever, that you find the right camera fitted to your new phone.
