The reason some people are rich while others aren’t is in the difference in the amount of information available to them. While everyone cannot be rich, anyone actually can. You can be amongst the many who control the world. But that depends on certain decision you take and don’t take.
Here are some of the causes of poverty in people.
THE ‘WHAT WOULD THEY SAY’ SYNDROME
I have come to understand that a lot of people shelve their dreams because they don’t get approval from others around them. Do you think Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos became rich today seeking permission from others? They conceived ideas, and ran with them not minding who was supportive. People who put others ahead of themselves when it comes to business rarely grow.
AVOIDANCE OF RISKS
There’s a difference between taking calculated risks and a foolish one. They say “not taking a risk is a risk.” You sometimes need to take a plunge. There are business opportunities that will clearly show you’ll make every dime back, and there are others that wouldn’t show anything, so it’s up to you to go with your guts, even if it’s clearly against the ‘obvious’.
WORKING FOR OTHERS
There’s nothing wrong taking up paid employment, but it’s important to pause, think about the future, and invest. There’s a possibility you’ll be dropped from work tomorrow. What if you eventually get retired? You need to build your own empire.
LACK OF HARD WORK AND PERSISTENCE
Nothing good comes easy, remember? If you want to be great, you have to put in the time. Pay your dues. Read books that would enlighten you, and help you grow in your field of endeavour. Look for people to mentor you as well. Mentorship is very often underestimated, but it’s a quick way to learn.
“Procrastination is the thief of time.” That is very true. Time waits for no one, so the more you shelve your plans for a later period, and continue to waste it doing irrelevant stuff, the less time you may actually have to make meaningful impact in future.
