Oftentimes we find ourselves in a position where we like someone so much, and want to be with them, but for some reason, they just seem to be ignoring our messages.

Well, usually, the immediate conclusion is they’re ignoring us because they don’t like us, but research has shown that sometimes, it’s more than that.

Here are some of the reasons this happens.

YOU BORE THEM

Sometimes, people don’t reply messages swiftly if they don’t find the conversation interesting enough. It could be because the wrong words are being used or interests are very dissimilar. Even if I liked you a little, and I find your conversation boring, I don’t think that would help the friendship grow in any way.

THEIR BUSY SCHEDULE JUST ISN’T HELPING

We don’t like to believe this because of the popular saying that, “If someone thinks you’re important, they’ll make time”, but the truth remains that even then, there’s a limit to how much one can do in certain situations. Sometimes, the schedule is just so tight you can’t squeeze in so much time for conversations with people, even if they mean so much to you.

MOOD

People have mood swings. And sometimes, you just don’t feel like talking to anyone— even the ones you like. Moods vary, and depending on what you feel, your disposition to people is affected by it.

THEY’RE NOT INTERESTED IN YOU

Bitter truth, but it has to be said. Sometimes, the reason they won’t reply your messages bore down to one reality– they don’t find you appealing enough. It doesn’t help when they have someone else in their life that they are into or have a crush on.

THE ‘EX FACTOR’

Sometimes, you meet someone who you like, and is single, you exchange numbers and get along for a bit, but eventually, they stop replying your messages promptly. It is possible they were actually single when you met them, but an Ex from the past crept back in their life, and changed the narrative.
