‘Relationship goals’ is a trending phrase on social media; a lot of young folks post pictures of beautiful looking couples and families and tag them as a relationship goal on social media. Even beautiful weddings and shots of celebrities having a public display of affection are also tagged as relationship goals.
It’s a good thing that young people are looking forward to the next phase and hoping for a beautiful romance, but there are better relationship goals to set.
1. UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF
To understand what you want in a relationship, you ought to first know yourself. Knowing yourself is the foundation to having a good relationship, because it’s when you know yourself that you’ll know the right choice to make when choosing a partner.
2. UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU WANT IN A PARTNER
What do you want in a relationship partner? It shouldn’t just be about looks and other trivial things; you should be more focused on compatibility and what makes you two unique in that relationship. You should be able to recognise the kind of partner that’s right for you, rather than dating every Tom, Dick and Harry or every Lizzy, Rose and Catherine that comes your way.
If you can understand the kind of partner you ought to be with, you’ll make better choices.
3. MAKING YOURSELF BETTER FOR A RELATIONSHIP
A very important relationship goal to set is making yourself a better person for a relationship. You have flaws; we all do have those things that make us imperfect. Rather than pride in your imperfection or not even being aware of your flaws, work on yourself, your flaws and your bad habits – be a better version of yourself.
4. BUILDING UNDERSTANDING
An understanding relationship should be the relationship goal for every person seeking to be in a relationship and getting married. Having good understanding with your partner is the best kind of romance there is.
5. NURTURING THE CURRENT RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE
A relationship ought to be nurtured and groomed for it to be good. Every good relationship/marriage you see was duly nurtured by the two people involved.
6. PREPARING YOURSELF FOR MARRIAGE
A lot of mistake people make is that they want to get married but don’t prepare themselves for marriage. A good relationship goal to have is to build yourself up for marriage; do a lot of reading and prepare your mind for it – that’s a good way to get set.
7. GROWING TOGETHER WITH YOUR PARTNER
Grow together in love and understanding with your partner, inspire each other to be better and do the best for each other. Be the best you can be with each other and do the best you can do for each other.
These are better relationship goals to set, that’ll assure you of a better marriage, rather than the goals you see on social media that are just born out of trivial reasons.
